Our HPV Test checks for the presence of human papillomavirus (HPV) in a woman’s cervix. The test involves collecting a small sample of cells from the cervix during a pelvic exam and it can detect the presence of high-risk HPV strains that can cause abnormal cell growth in the cervix, potentially leading to cervical cancer.
During a HPV test, a healthcare provider uses a speculum to gently hold open the vagina, allowing them to collect a small sample of cells from the cervix using a small brush. It takes a few minutes to complete. The sample will then be sent to one of our partner laboratories for analysis. One of our doctors will reach out to share the results once they are ready.
If your HPV test is positive, it means that you have a high-risk strain of HPV and further testing may be needed to determine if you have abnormal cervical cells that require treatment. Our medical team will discuss your test results with you and provide recommendations on next steps.
While a Pap smear checks for abnormal cell growth in the cervix, an HPV test specifically checks for the presence of HPV. The Pap smear is recommended once every 3 years for women between the ages of 25 and 29 years old, and the HPV test is the recommended screening tool for women aged 30 years and above.

Taking an HPV test is important for several reasons. Human papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection that can lead to serious health issues, including cervical cancer, other types of cancer (such as anal, vaginal, vulvar, penile, and throat cancer), and genital warts. The test helps detect the presence of high-risk HPV strains that may cause these conditions. Early detection through an HPV test allows for timely medical intervention, monitoring, and appropriate treatment if necessary.
If you are 30 years old and above, it is recommended that you take an HPV test once every five years.
If you are between 25 and 29 years old, you should take a Pap Smear test once every three years. You can book your Pap Smear with Ease via this link.
The HPV test is performed by a doctor at one of our partner clinics in central Singapore. Once you select a preferred timing on the medical questionnaire one of our customer care team members will be in touch with you to book the appointment.
It typically takes about 7 days to get results after your sample arrives at our lab. In total, expect about 10 days from the time you sample collection. We’ll contact you once the results are ready! If you haven’t received your test results after 10 days, please contact customer.care@ease-healthcare.com.
After the HPV test, you will receive your test results. If your results are normal, it indicates that there is no evidence of high-risk HPV strains at the time of the test. In this case, it is generally recommended to continue with routine screening.
However, if your results are abnormal and indicate the presence of high-risk HPV strains, it does not necessarily mean you have cancer, but further evaluation may be required. In such cases, one of our doctors will contact you to discuss your results and provide guidance on next steps. They may recommend additional tests, to further evaluate any abnormalities and determine the appropriate course of action.
