It is a test that measures levels of thyroid hormones to evaluate the state of the thyroid gland which produces hormones that play a critical role in our metabolism, energy levels, and more. This test is particularly relevant for women with changes in their menstrual cycles, or women in menopause, as thyroid function can influence the hormones that regulate our period.
The thyroid can affect menstrual cycles by influencing the hormones that regulate the menstrual cycle, and an overactive or underactive thyroid can cause irregular periods, heavy or light bleeding, or even absence of periods.

What is being tested?
Our Thyroid Function Test measures levels of thyroid hormones and other markers in the blood to evaluate how well the thyroid gland is functioning during menopause.
FT4
A thyroid hormone that plays a critical role in regulating metabolism, growth, and development. In women, FT4 levels may decrease as they age and enter menopause. This decrease may be associated with an increased risk of thyroid dysfunction and related symptoms.
TSH
A hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a critical role in regulating thyroid function. In women, TSH levels may increase as they age and enter menopause. This increase may be associated with an increased risk of thyroid dysfunction and related symptoms.

Frequently Asked Questions
Taking a thyroid test is important because it helps detect thyroid disorders early. The thyroid gland regulates important bodily functions, and abnormalities can lead to issues such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism. A thyroid test allows for timely treatment, management of existing conditions, prevention of complications, and identification of unexplained symptoms.
A thyroid test is generally recommended for individuals with symptoms or risk factors associated with thyroid disorders. This includes those experiencing symptoms like fatigue, weight changes, mood swings, or menstrual irregularities, as well as individuals with a family history of thyroid disorders, women planning or during pregnancy, people with known thyroid conditions, and those with other autoimmune diseases.
The test is performed by a doctor at one of our partner clinics in central Singapore. Once you select a preferred timing on the medical questionnaire one of our customer care team members will be in touch with you to book the appointment.
It typically takes about 7 days to get results after your sample arrives at our lab. In total, expect about 10 days from the time you sample collection. We’ll contact you once the results are ready! If you haven’t received your test results after 10 days, please contact customer.care@ease-healthcare.com.
After the test, you will receive your test results. If your results are abnormal further evaluation may be required. In such cases, one of our doctors will contact you to discuss your results and provide guidance on next steps. They may recommend additional tests, to further evaluate any abnormalities and determine the appropriate course of action.
