Menopause is a clinical diagnosis and is based on the absence of menstruation for at least 12 months. However a menopause test may be recommended in special circumstances such as when a woman with irregular periods experiences symptoms of menopause, and works by measuring levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and oestrogen, which can help determine if a woman is in menopause or not.
Our Menopause Profile Test is performed through a simple blood test at one of our partner clinics and it’s carried out by a medical professional. During the test, a small amount of blood is drawn and sent to a partner laboratory for analysis. The results are typically available within a few days.
By means of supporting a diagnosis of menopause, a menopause test can explain a variety of symptoms related to menopause. These symptoms can include hot flashes, missed periods, night sweats, mood changes, vaginal dryness, and sleep disturbances. By measuring the levels of hormones such as FSH and oestrogen, a menopause test can help to support a diagnosis of menopause and provide an explanation for the symptoms that you may be experiencing. Knowing the cause of these symptoms can help you and your healthcare provider develop a plan to manage them and improve your overall quality of life.

The results of our Menopause Profile Test provide insight into your hormonal health and can help you better understand your menopausal symptoms. If the levels of FSH and estradiol in your blood are consistent with menopause, this means that your ovaries are producing less oestrogen and you have entered menopause. If your levels are not consistent with menopause, this could indicate other hormonal imbalances or health issues that may need further investigation. In either case, our doctor-reviewed results provide expert insight and guidance to help you manage your hormonal health and improve your overall wellbeing.

What is being tested?
Our Menopause Profile Test measures Estradiol, FSH, and LH levels to provide a comprehensive picture of your hormonal health and help you manage the changes that come with menopause.
Estradiol
A type of estrogen that helps regulate the menstrual cycle and decreases significantly during menopause, causing hot flashes and mood changes.
FSH
A hormone that stimulates ovarian follicle development and increases as estrogen levels decline during menopause, making it a key indicator of menopause.
LH
A hormone that helps regulate the menstrual cycle and increases during menopause, along with FSH, as the ovaries produce less estrogen.

Menopause is a clinical diagnosis and is based upon the absence of menstruation for at least 12 months. However, a menopause test may be recommended in special circumstances such as when a woman with irregular periods experiences symptoms of menopause, when a woman who is on oral contraceptive pills experiences symptoms of menopause, or when a woman experiences premature menopause (before the age of 40). It may also be considered in women who have undergone womb surgery in whom menopause cannot be determine with menstrual bleeding criteria.
A menopause test is typically done by measuring levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and oestrogen. When a woman enters menopause, her ovaries stop releasing eggs and her levels of oestrogen decrease. By measuring the levels of these hormones, a menopause test can determine if a woman is in menopause or not.

After the test you will have a short teleconsultation with one of our doctors who will walk you through your results. However, if you wish to get treatment for your symptoms we suggest booking a Peri/Menopause General Teleconsultation which costs $20 and is a longer and more comprehensive consult to discuss your test results, symptoms, medical history, and any other relevant information and help develop a personalized treatment plan for you which may include prescription/non-prescription and hormonal/non-hormonal treatments. Treatment plans are paid separately after the consultation.
