Frequently Asked Questions
Emergency contraception works by blocking your ovaries from ovulating. If you do not release an egg during ovulation, you cannot get pregnant. Emergency contraception is not an abortion pill and will not work if you are already pregnant.
Emergency contraception should not be used as regular birth control. Although there are no known health risks, regular use can result in increased side effects (like irregular bleeding).
If you find that you need emergency contraception more than 2 or 3 times a month, we recommend that you consider starting regular birth control which is much more effective (up to 99% effective when used as directed) compared to emergency contraception (ranges from 58%-94% effective, depending on timing), and also more affordable in the long-term.
While most people do not experience side effects from using emergency contraceptive pills, some do experience spotting or irregular bleeding about one week before and/or after your scheduled period. Other potential side effects include nausea*, vomiting*, headache, dizziness, breast soreness, or cramping for 1 to 2 days after taking emergency contraception.
*If you vomit within 2 hours of taking emergency contraception, your body may not have absorbed the pill and you will need to purchase a new pill. If this happens, please contact us immediately at customer.care@ease-healthcare.com or 9076 5845
Emergency contraceptive pills have efficacy rates of 58% – 94% in preventing pregnancies. The efficacy depends on the time the medication is taken and the brand of emergency contraception purchased.
You may want to consider taking emergency contraception if:
– You had sex without a condom or if the condom breaks, slips, or falls off.
– You had sex and have missed your combined hormonal contraception (pill, patch, or ring) for more than 24 hours.
– You had sex and are more than 3 hours late while on the progesterone-only pill.
Birth control pills are taken regularly to prevent pregnancy, while emergency contraception is used as backup contraception to prevent pregnancy after unprotected sex or when birth control fails. Emergency contraception should not be used as regular birth control. Although there are no known health risks, regular use can result in increased side effects (like irregular bleeding).
You can receive your birth control in as little as 4 hours after your doctor’s appointment (for purchases made before 4pm). Purchases made after 4pm will be delivered by 2pm the next day. Please note that you will need to be home to receive the package.
Yes. Due to existing health regulations, you will need to attend a short video check-in appointment with our doctor before your prescription can be written and your medication dispensed.Â
